parkhurst

A grid of renovated homes a short walk from 4th Avenue.

A straight suburban road under a long tunnel of mature trees

Parkhurst is a walkable grid of family homes, most of them renovated at least once, with 4th Avenue's restaurants and shops at its centre. Buyers come for the village feel and the schools nearby.

A little history

Parkhurst was laid out in 1904 by the African Realty Trust as the northern corner of the Braamfontein farm. Much of it was built up after the Second World War, and steady renovation since the 1960s has given it a mix of Edwardian, Tudor Revival and Cape Dutch styles.

The houses

Renovated family homes on regular stands, often with a pool, a converted garage or a garden studio. Original features survive in many houses, but most kitchens and bathrooms have been redone.
